Add and subtract times, find the time between two moments, convert 12-hour to 24-hour time, and answer “what time will it be in X minutes?”.
Use HH:MM, or add AM/PM — for example 2:30 PM.
How to use this tool
Choose “Add / subtract” to add two times, “Time between” for the gap between two times, “12h ↔ 24h” to convert, or “Time from now” for a future time.
Type times like 14:30, or with AM/PM like 2:30 PM. Seconds (HH:MM:SS) are accepted too.
Results update as you type, including overnight gaps and the day change when a sum passes midnight.
Use Copy result to paste the time into a message, a rota or a schedule.
Formula & worked example
14:30 + 2:45 = 17:15. From 22:00 to 02:00 is 4 hours (the end time falls the next day, so 24:00 − 22:00 + 2:00 = 4 hours). In 12-hour form, 2:30 PM = 14:30 in 24-hour (military) time.
Limitations — read this before you rely on it
This calculator works with clock times on a single day cycle, not with calendar dates or time zones: an overnight gap is assumed to be the next day, and daylight-saving changes are not modelled. For shifts spanning several days, add the dates separately with the date calculator.
Frequently asked questions
A time calculator adds, subtracts or compares clock times. This one adds/subtracts two times, measures the time between two times (including overnight), converts 12-hour and 24-hour times, and tells you what time it will be in a given number of minutes or hours.
Military time is 24-hour time: the hours run 00 to 23 with no AM/PM. To convert, add 12 to PM hours (2:30 PM = 14:30); 12 AM is 00:xx and 12 PM is 12:xx. Use the “12h ↔ 24h” mode for an instant conversion.
Use “Time from now” mode with 30 minutes. It is calculated from the current time on your device — for example, if it is now 14:30, in 30 minutes it will be 15:00.
If the end time is earlier than the start time, it is counted as the next day. So 22:00 to 02:00 is 4 hours, not a negative 20 hours.
Yes. HH:MM, HH:MM:SS and 12-hour times with AM/PM (for example 2:30 PM) are all accepted. Times like 25:00 or 14:75 are rejected with a friendly error.
