Turn clock-in, clock-out and breaks into hours worked and pay.
hours worked
How to use this tool
Use the time fields; overnight shifts (for example 22:00 to 06:00) are handled automatically.
Enter break minutes — paid breaks should be left at 0.
Under Advanced options, enter an hourly rate to price the shift.
Gross time, hours worked and shift pay are shown together.
Formula & worked example
Clock in 09:00, out 17:00, with a 30-minute unpaid break: 8h 00m on site, 7h 30m worked. At $20/hour that is $150.00 for the shift.
Limitations — read this before you rely on it
This covers one shift with a single unpaid break. It does not apply overtime rules, paid breaks, night differentials, taxes or rounding policies — check your employer's payroll rules for those.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. If clock-out is earlier than clock-in, 24 hours are added, so 22:00 to 06:00 correctly gives 8 hours before breaks.
The Time Clock Calculator is built for shifts: it subtracts breaks and prices the shift. The Time Duration Calculator simply measures elapsed time between two clock times.
This calculator treats the break as unpaid, which is the common payroll convention. If your break is paid, leave the break at 0.
No — overtime rules vary by employer and jurisdiction, so this shows straight hours and pay. Apply your local overtime rule to the result.
That is treated as invalid: a shift must have a non-zero length. Enter the real times.
