How to use this tool

1
Type a title

Any headline, phrase or product name works.

2
Pick a separator

Hyphens are the SEO standard; underscores are shown for comparison.

3
Tidy it up

Remove stop words and cap the length for short, clean URLs.

4
Copy the slug

Copy result copies the main slug for your CMS or filename.

Formula & worked example

Lowercase the text, transliterate accented letters (café → cafe, ß → ss), replace every run of non-alphanumeric characters with the separator, then trim separators from the ends. A max length cuts the slug and trims any trailing separator.

"How to Make the Perfect Cup of Coffee" becomes how-to-make-the-perfect-cup-of-coffee — or how-to-make-perfect-cup-coffee with stop words removed.

Limitations — read this before you rely on it

Transliteration covers common Latin accented characters only; Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Chinese and other scripts are stripped rather than transliterated, so check those slugs by hand. Uniqueness against your existing pages is not checked here.
