How to use this tool

1
Upload a photo

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP file. It stays on your device — nothing is uploaded.

2
Shape the crop box

Drag the box to move it, drag a corner to resize, or pick an aspect preset like 1:1 or 16:9.

3
Pick the output format

PNG for quality, JPEG for smaller files, WebP for the best of both.

4
Download the crop

Download exports exactly the selected region at full resolution.

Formula & worked example

The crop box is stored as fractions of the image (x, y, width, height each 0–1). Export draws that region of the original image onto a canvas at its native pixel size: output width = round(box width × image width).

A 4000 × 3000 photo cropped to the middle half (box 0.25–0.75 in both axes) exports a 2000 × 1500 image — the centre half of the original, at full quality.

Limitations — read this before you rely on it

Cropping cannot add detail beyond the original pixels: a small crop enlarged later will look soft. Very large photos are limited by browser canvas memory; if an export fails, try a smaller crop or a JPEG export.

Frequently asked questions

No. The file is read locally in your browser and the crop is drawn on a canvas on your device.

1:1 is square (profile photos), 4:3 is classic photo shape, 16:9 is widescreen, 3:2 matches most cameras, and Free lets you drag any shape.

The cropped pixels are copied at full resolution. JPEG export re-compresses (quality 92%), while PNG is lossless.

Use the round-crop option: it exports a circular crop with a transparent background (PNG or WebP).

Because a crop is only part of the photo — a half-width, half-height crop has a quarter of the original pixels.
