How to use this tool

1
Enter the oven recipe

Type the oven temperature in Celsius and the oven cooking time in minutes.

2
Pick the food type

The food type sets the safety note; the time and temperature conversion is the same guide for most foods.

3
Read the air fryer settings

Temperature drops by about 10 deg C and time by about 20% — check early the first time you convert a recipe.

4
Check doneness, not just the timer

Use a thermometer for meat: chicken 75 deg C throughout, and all food piping hot.

Formula & worked example

Air fryer temperature = oven temperature – 10 deg C (about 20 deg F lower in practice for fan ovens; use the converted value as a guide). Air fryer time = oven time x 0.8. Energy = power x time.

An oven recipe at 200 deg C for 30 minutes becomes about 190 deg C (374 deg F) for 24 minutes in an air fryer.

Limitations — read this before you rely on it

Air fryers vary in power, basket size and fan strength, and crowded baskets cook unevenly. These are starting guides: always check internal temperature and doneness, especially for poultry and pork.

Frequently asked questions

Air fryers circulate hot air fast in a small space, so food cooks quicker and browns faster than in a large oven.

Most air fryers benefit from 3–5 minutes preheating; add that to total energy but not to food cooking time.

Cook in batches. Overfilling blocks airflow and leaves the middle undercooked even if the outside browns.

Yes in principle: convert the oven temperature to Celsius first, subtract 10, then convert back — the tool shows the Fahrenheit result.

Usually yes for small portions, because a small air fryer heats less air and cooks faster, but a large oven batch can beat many small air fryer batches.
